Resolution and Icon size

As many people are purchasing the newer LCD monitors or just plain bigger replacements for their older CRT types, they're finding it harder to see what's on their desktops due to the increase in resolution with their new monitors. When you increase resolution you can fit more on the screen but things tend to be smaller. Often when you buy a new LCD it's manufacturer recommends a certain resolution that's best for that monitor. You can have the best of both worlds by increasing the size of the icons on your desktop. Follow these steps:

  1. Right click once in a clear area of your desktop

  2. A small menu appears, left click on properties

  3. A box appears, left click on the tab that is labeled "settings"

  4. Left click on the button in the lower right hand corner that is labeled "advanced"

  5. On the general tab below "DPI setting" left click on the downward pointed arrow next to the "Normal size (96 DPI)" setting and mouse over the (120 DPI) setting and left click. you will receive a message.

  6. Left click OK twice to close the boxes. (if you cancel it cancels the action)
